A Silent Tone (Diminishes)

about

ritual of existence throbbing pushed forward into the chaotic airwaves
you stumble through chronological issues scheduled existence
intensified demands reflecting requirements foreign and unintended
the bells rings you watch detached indifferent or compelled to
expectations catch your breath hold your breath catch yourself
breathing and slow down empty your head it’s not your making
not your doing you don’t want it all you want it all you have no say
you direct your own way who are all these people crying out to you
where you stood in their way your own way who are they and what
do they want you can’t stop asking crying clinging to whatever you
can wrap your mind around excitement tempers reality inside and out
there is so much you need want hope for you embrace and release
embrace and release embrace and release alone again can you hold
me hold me hold me lonely again isolation the battle cry of sirens
calling to you from the mysterious lake weeping for everyone you
reach out in darkness and find no one reaching back the bell tones
sing to you the rattle in the air the final rattle the exhausting air the
precipitous end drives off the engine stalls restarts speeds and retreats
where is it taking me these hollow wringing of hands as the frogs call
to me enter the lake submerge into the lake the voices low the subtle
inclination to descend merge into the muddled ecosystem
withdrawremoved from the main to hear mystic birds screech
and coo with the hostility of love and anger of caring you
slide back to your origin neck spine sliding stooping shuffling
slumping away the lights dim the wind rises decay
and slack who are these hands eyes teeth floating
the stars descend you grasp at again and find the
empty hollow a cyclone in your head skin tight
and loose why are what these are you when
why what is exhausting darkness you want to
tell them but only a piercing tone emerges
my voice my mouth my eyes in darkness

about

CHANGES TO blind Wilmington, North Carolina

CTb was borne in Syracuse, NY in the mid 80s. Originally the trio of phil zampino, Mortimer deSquid & Heraldo deSquid, only zampino survives. Wires and boxes were dragged about and throttled, moving to Manhattan in 1992 as improvisation krept into the mix. Now in Wilmington, NC the kurrent state of affairs involves exposition, as CTb airs its dirty underdrawers for the listener's disdain. ... more
